Import Friday – Warsteiner Premium Dunkel
Dunkel. Not exactly a common beer in North America. I don’t think anyone in BC brews one. The dunkel I had at Theresienbräu in Innsbruck was one of the best beers I’ve ever had. I was hoping for something similar.
This beer is red like raspberry syrup. It has a dark-dry fruity aroma – prunes, raisins, currants, raspberry. It tastes like raspberries, currants, caramel, hints of maltiness and assorted dried-dark fruits. . It’s got a smooth, medium body with long finish.
Not a beer for me. It doesn’t have flavours I like in my beer. It was nothing like the dunkel at Theresienbräu.
