BC Beer – Nelson Paddywhack IPA
My dad picked up a six-pack of this Kootenay brewed Organic IPA. Saved me buying this, which, if you read on isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
2003 Canadian Brewing Awards Gold Medal Winner
The perfect premium organic ale that will definitely satisfy the most knowledgeable beer lover. Heavenly hopped to the edge but beautifully balanced, this India Pale Ale is the beer for the hardiest hop connoisseurs. Paddywhack is the NBC staff favourite. Try some nestled with spicy curried prawns. GOTTA THIRST ATTACK CRACK A PADDYWHACK!
Paddywhack is quite dark for an IPA. More deeper copper than an average pale ale. If used a hex code to describe the amiable lace leaving head it would be FFFFF8. The dominant aroma was that of toffee followed by quiet hops flavours of grass, spices, and citrus. The taste is a prominent toffee mingled with a touch of caramel. WHOA, quite the bitterness for such an unassuming aroma. Your mouth is coated in that piney-resiny way some hops work. Yet it stays nice and smooth with obligatory drying finish. Paddywhack might not satisfy the most concerning of hopheads or IPA aficionados.

I think Nelson have struggled a bit since losing brewer Jeff Parker and going organic. A shame really as this beer used to be one of my favourites.
