BC Beer – Granville Island Rogers Chocolate Stout
Vern Lambourne, and the rest of the Granville Island Brewing crew, teamed up with Victoria based chocolatier Rogers Chocolates to create a Chocolate Stout. And what a beer it is.
It is almost as black as a beer can be with the edges only letting light through. The aroma of chocolate is strong, it is reminiscent of chocolate milk, vanilla, fruits also coming through. Incredibly smooth with a medium to full body, very chocolately with hints of dried fruits. A slight bitterness from the chocolate comes through with a coffee flavour showing up on the finish. Incredibly rich and easily the best chocolate stout I’ve had. Better than the international favourite Young’s Double Chocolate Stout, and local favourite Longboat Double Chocolate Porter. Watch out Phillips!
