BC Beer – Okanagan Spring Lager
A remnant of my roommate’s brother’s sample pack. Might as well put it to good use and drink it. I had good success with a lager from Vernon’s Okanagan Spring.
Rich and hoppy, our Original Lager is a naturally brewed beer with a well balanced, clean taste. Our first brew, it’s what helped launch the craft beer movement in BC in 1985.
The lager is darker than I expected. Perhaps I should have paid more attention to the colour wheel that is on every Okanagan Spring bottle. The nose has a vegetal aroma backed by sweet malt. On the taste this flips, with the sweet malt being the dominant flavour leading to a vegetal finish. Very smooth drinking beer. Overall this beer is quite easy to drink, but I found it leaving my taste buds unentertained. It’s better than the offerings of the big guys, so it has that going for it.
